193 Bleecker Street, NYC
The bureka shop.
Buba Bureka opened on Bleecker Street in the spring of 2025 — the first burekas-only shop in New York City, according to Time Out. No sandwiches, no salads, no menu padding. Just the bureka, done right.
One pastry, obsessed over. Every bureka starts with a golden, layered dough and a filling built from family recipes — the schug, in particular, is Chef Ben's grandfather's recipe, passed down and barely changed.
It's a takeout counter, not a restaurant: boxes stacked to the ceiling, the ovens going all day, and everything sold until it's gone. Come by, grab a box, and eat it on the stoop.
